Permissions and a heads up

PERMISSIONS. This is possibly long-ish, bear with me.

Katie has several talents/gifts that are intrinsic to her character but either a) need info from other players or b) need permission ahead of time.

Love of glamour:

Glamour and banality are two concepts that have a lot of driving force in Katie's life. Glamour is what keeps her going; banality makes her uncomfortable and ...can sometimes be seriously detrimental to her continued wellbeing. If you're playing a highly creative, highly gullible, highly escapist or highly insane character, you're the sort of person Katie will love because you'll practically be bleeding glamour. Around such people, magic becomes easier to cast and is nowhere near as tiring. And let's face it, they're more fun.

At the other end of the scale are the skeptics, the all too rational, and the ones who hide behind logic and methodism for everything they do. Scientists, lawyers, accountants, tax officials ... yeah, you all suck B|. Katie will make faces at you and try to avoid you like the plague because you guys have the opposite effect.

So yeah, I kinda need to know where you think your character falls on that scale. |D If you're not sure, you're probably just average. (Most people are, in fact, just average.)

Dream echoes:

Katie has a deep and abiding connection to the Dreaming, which means she sees the world in a different light to most. If a character has recurring dreams and/or nightmares, fantasies, obsessions, or anything that really registers very strongly with them, Katie will be able to see echoes of it surrounding that character. Please note these are rare, so they have to be real and utter fixations or something your character thinks about every single day or dreams about every night, or has shaped how they live their lives greatly. An example might be Rem, for Vash the Stampede - she's in his thoughts all the time, he lives his life the way he does because of her, etc etc.

Just what those echoes are is entirely up to you, but if you're not sure what they should have or if they should have them, I can help with that.  If you would prefer Katie can't see anything, that's also totally okay, so feel free to skip this part.

Please fill in these details for me!

Other stuff of note:

Secret keepers

Katie is a pooka, and the pooka are the confidants and secret keepers of the Dreaming. People who spend more than a minute or so talking to her are generally inclined to confide in her, even if it's something they've never done before. Everything from confessing your crushes to who you've killed to your dreams and aspirations in life. Unless it's highly IC and your character wanted someone to confide in, or wishes someone understood them or the like, it's unlikely that you'll actually confide in her unless she asks the right sorts of questions. And pooka are also geased to never tell the clear truth, and hence it's rather hard for her to pass on those secrets. A pooka can tell the truth, but it hurts them - and if they do it too often, it undoes them. Hence, your secrets are pretty safe with her.

Exceptions: if you've promised someone you will never tell and you meant it, you won't break your promise. (Oaths are very important.) And I'm not about to insist on dragging secrets out of people. If this happens in game, it's entirely up to you if you want to start confiding in the small child. Sheer willpower will stop a person blathering everything, after all.

Promises

Any oath Katie enters into is bound and upheld by the Dreaming, so she must follow through on it. By the same token, anyone who promises her anything had better follow through themselves or they'll find themselves having some serious bad luck until they right the situation somehow or Katie releases them from their promise. In both cases, people will feel a sense of finality when a promise is made, like it's set in stone and very important. I wanted to give a heads up on that because a lot of people throw those words around lightly and I don't want anyone to accidentally wind up in a vow unless the player wants them to.

Please note:

Due to a lot of people apping in with the ability to sense such things, I should also add that Katie has two souls, one human and one fae, both basically balancing each other out and being mostly in harmony.  If you can sense such things, give me a heads up and I'll keep that in mind when I tag you!

I-I think that covers most major things? Anything else, I'll bring up IC and I'll always ask permission for things ahead of time anyway. Sorry for all the reading material |D;;

Character: Felix Harrowgate
Is your character especially logical or creative (or a complete lunatic)? Felix might be one of those strange cases of creatively logical? He's very scientifically minded and prefers to read non-fiction over fiction, but a lot of that he applies to the practice of magic. While it's something he's born with, magic is very much a scholarly field where he comes from, and he loves to learn. He's also far more willing to buck accepted theories and come up with his own solutions to things.
Does your character have any echoes that Katie can see/interact with? Boy, does he ever. Felix's life is full of traumatic stuff. Canonically he often has dreams about fire or water (specifically the river from his city called the Sim, which is characteristically dark-watered and smells faintly metallic), though the biggest echo would likely be his former master Malkar. Malkar more or less made Felix into the man he is now and was absolutely awful into him. Felix does manage to kill him in canon but then spends the next book obsessing about the possibility of the man coming back to life. Feel free to ask or read his history on his journal, if you want to know more.

Other things of note: Felix was insane for awhile! Or, more accurately, it made him hideously sensitive to magic and all things with one foot in the spiritual world. He could see ghosts, see the imprint of spells that would normally be invisible, see people's auras that translated to their emotions, etc. He still retains some of this sensitivity if he's ever deprived of his own magic. Also, he does tend to actively ward his own dreams, meaning that he doesn't have nightmares all the time, though it's clearly not 100% effective. I don't know if she could sense the echoes are present but blocked in some sense, or if it would cut them off for her too? Again, feel free to ask.

Oh those are some good questions; he's not really the kind of person she's come across before, though him being "insane" in that way for a while definitely puts him in Katie's wheelhouse. I think despite his scientific mindedness he'd still be pretty okay to her senses!

I'm not sure about the warded dreams; at a guess I'd say they pobably do impact his echoes a bit, but only in that it helps them not to get too real to Katie; she'd probably not realise at this age that he's doing that, though if I ever update her to her older self she might.

Thanks for the fillout! o/
