[Today, Katie visits the Item Shop. It's a short visit, and she's there to pick up anything remotely string-like that she can find. Why? Kittens like string, and she's all out of the stash she had.

...okay, she may have other less frivolous reasons. By this time she's mindful that certain grown ups may be looking for her, and thus her visit is hopefully timed for as few people around as possible. In, out, a polite nod to the person behind the counter with the pretty hair, and back to the woods she goes. Anyone that does see her in person might note she's thinner, but clean and tidy, unlike her last accidental appearance.

She goes far deep into the forest with her string, sitting on a large, flat rock in the sun next to Rei's charm, and unwinds every different strand around her in the grass, threading it all carefully and lovingly between her fingertips as if blessing each one. In a sense, she is. The glamour she's stolen recently is going to a good cause, even if the cause is not readily apparent.]

[Raine had been close to the edge of the village, using the afternoon to harvest some late wild-growing herbs in a basket, when she notices from not too far away, Katie's progression toward the forest.

... had it only been a few days since she had appeared on her roof? Raine still had the bell, though it remained sitting on her desk.

Promises are sacred to my kind. Stay away. Would you prefer it if I came undone?

Those words were not forgotten. Even so, she can't bring herself to ignore Katie's presence, and it would only take a few steps to alert Katie to hers, she was certain. She waits, however, until the girl is completely alone and has started on the move again before making herself known.]

... Hello, Katie.

[Katie's footsteps slow, then stop completely, fingers curling on the bag she has with her.]

Do you ever find it particularly muddy when you walk about in the forest?

Only after heavy storms. [She knows full well what Katie means to refer to, but for some reason, she finds herself speaking of this instead.] ... When I was younger, I always thought the rain was particularly heavy whenever we had to travel somewhere.

Maybe it was saying goodbye. [She considers.] Or hello. One of the two.

Perhaps so. It happened often enough that I used to only associate it with bad situations, until I realized that it wasn't fair to do so. It was only the weather, and had nothing to do with me personally.

I like the rain. It has puddles you can jump in, and it hides all sorts of things.

Hides things?

Tigers, if it rains hard enough.

I suppose I don't often see tigers in the rain. So perhaps it does work.

[Goodness, what a topic to leap to. And only from the idea of muddy footprints. It's more surprising that ancient relics don't spring up wherever she goes.] It's good to see you, you know.

Is it? [She tilts her head.] Did you tell Vash I was in trouble?

Hm? [She's surprised at the sudden question, but shakes her head at that.] I hadn't spoken to Vash about you at all.

Do you think it's impossible for a small child to be evil? [Not entirely serious with that one. Her smile quirks up a little.]

I've learned from experience that in some circumstances, nothing is quite fully impossible. Just very unlikely. In any case, I haven't met any that would qualify for that label. It's rather subjective, don't you think?
