[After a conversation with Buffy, Katie's on the hunt. This week, anywhere between the 14th to the 18th, she's looking for a man with red skin who may or may not be incredibly old (by her own thoughts on the matter) but she's reliably informed he might be able to help her.

That's not gonna work out so well, mind. But such is life. On the 18th, she hunts through town as a kitten, because by this time she's getting too much attention. That, and asking fellow cats for possible directions is less attention-getting when you're a cat yourself. 8|

In the end, though, she has no luck. So loathe as she is to use her journal, she tries asking outright on the journals; written and hopefully as anonymous as possible.]

[He's sorry, Katie, but the last time he talked to John because he lost something was for a pretty specific reason and he feels horrible he never knew.]

I, Katie, I'm so sorry.

Why on earth are you sorry? [She sounds more than a little snippy. Her own business. If you were going to be sorry, you should've been sorry months ago, you big jerk.] Maybe this isn't what you think it is.

I'd hope it's not.

...but if you ever want to talk about it. I'll listen. [And possibly go out to find someone he needs to give a talking ~~beating~~ to.]

Should I ever lose my magic, I'll be sure to come straight to you and talk about it, honestly and true.

Did you forget I repaired your room only the other week?

That's true, you did. Is there a reason you're asking John for it back? Did you lose some of it?

[She slams her journal closed.]

[Don't think you can get rid of Vash THAT easily when he's worried Katie. Vash will be out and about as soon as that book closes. He'll be looking high and low for a little girl.]

[She's in the library in the back corner. No one will ever think to look for her there! Hers is a cunning plan.]

[It actually works pretty well. Vash won't think to look for Katie in the library, but when he runs out of places to look - besides all of the forest, he'll double check the library.]

[And as Vash opens the library door to go in, Katie is about to walk out. Which means she's sort of caught staring up at him and looking kind of disconcerted about this.]

There you are! I've been looking all over for you! I'm sorry I upset you.

Not sorry enough. Don't you know how to take a hint?

[Sob, sorry Vash. She doesn't want to talk about this.]

I've been told I'm bad at that, actually.

We don't have to talk about what happened. I just want to make sure you're alright. [A pause.] I know it was pretty scary for me when I had to ask for John's help.

What's scary about it? [She sounds scornful. And then a moment later, she blinks. Because she realises what he means.] Who killed you?

Someone who isn't here anymore.

[Having had him answer this question, Katie tries to walk off.]

[He doesn't stop her, but he follows.] What about you? Are they in Luceti still?

You say that like you expect me to answer you honestly. Everyone knows I only tell lies. [And she's getting more and more irritated. Because even if she could answer him h onestly, she doesn't know. And therefore, she doesn't appreciate it.]

No, I don't expect you to answer anything I ask. I just won't know how best to help you if I don't ask.

What makes you think I need your help? I'm perfectly capable of asking for it if it's needed, you know.
